New York, NY — New York — The New York Islanders announced today that the club has signed defenseman Travis Sutter to a two-year contract, pending league and team approval.
Sutter, 23, made his NHL debut with the Islanders last season and tallied seven points (1G, 6A) in 26 games with the club.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, was selected by the Islanders in the second round, 59th overall, in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Suter has appeared in eight NHL games with New York this season and recorded one assist.
The 5-foot, 183-pound forward was originally selected by New York in the fourth round, 117th overall.
